New Federally Mandated Mask Requirements When Traveling

The Chief of Protocol of the State of Georgia presents his compliments to the Members of the Consular Corps of Georgia, and to Georgia’s international community.

On behalf of Ms. Alrene Barr, Director of International Business at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), I share with you the attached memo’s and information below, regarding new federally mandated mask requirements when traveling

Effective yesterday, February 1, 2021, all passengers of any public transportation are required to wear face masks while traveling, including when transiting through the airport. These face coverings must cover both an individual’s nose and mouth and be secured with ties. A face shield or mask with exhalation valves or holes will not be an acceptable substitution for a full covering.

With this federal mandate, failure to wear a face-covering while traveling through the airport may result in the removal and denial of reentry or services and may be subject to penalty.

Additional information with details regarding airport face-covering requirements and TSA guidelines is attached.
