FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Film Festival to Bring Attention to Growing Opportunities for Bollywood Film Industry

April 23, 2018 (Atlanta, GA) – The inaugural Atlanta Indian Film Festival will be held on May 11-12, 2018 at the Historic Academy of Medicine at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA with an aim to bring attention to the growing opportunity for the Indian film industry (Bollywood).

Hosted by the Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (GIACC), in partnership with ICA Institute, Atlanta Film Festival, New York Indian Film Festival and the Office of the Consulate General of India, the film festival aims to attract the Indian film industry and its professionals to seek out and make Georgia a production hub for its television and movie projects.

“With Georgia’s burgeoning film and production industry, along with the growing Indian population and overall interest in the Indian culture, we are excited to bring this film festival to Atlanta,” said Anita Ninan, president of GIACC.

Bollywood’s earnings is expected to reach $3.7 billion USD by 2020, according to a recently released report from Deloitte titled Indywood – The Indian Film Industry.

India is already the largest film industry in the world in terms of the number of films produced, which is close to 1,500 to 2,000 films per year on average.

Through the film festival, “We want producers, directors, artists, and other talent to see the potential of filming and production in the state,” Ninan added. “This adds to the economic development of Georgia, which means jobs, talent, and a host of other growth opportunities for everyone involved.”

The event also furthers GIACC’s mission to protect, develop, encourage, promote and foster trade, business, financial or professional interests and commercial relations between India and the United States, including specifically Georgia.
